Hi!
Hoo here!
I love to sing. That's not a typical hippo trait but I'm gifted. Which
is why the first club I would join at Hippocampus would be the Music Club.
You know what's so great about clubs? The first great thing is you make
lots of new friends who love something as much as you do. For example,
at the music club you'd meet kids who love to sing or play an instrument.
You'd have a mentor (the grown-up who knows everything) who'd show you
your way around the world of music. You'd learn about music from different
parts of the world, you'd learn about rhythm and beat and how to sing
using your diaphragm. If you're crazy about rock`n'roll, your mentor could
help you find out how it all began. In time you and your new friends could
start a band! And you could perform for people at birthday parties and
barbeques.
I know a Maths club sounds boring at first, but it's not! It's a great
club to join. I think the first thing you'd learn at the Maths Club is
not about numbers but that there are quite a lot of other kids who find
maths as confusing as you do! Then, in time, with the help of your mentor
you'll discover maths isn't really that tricky. And I'll bet the other
thing you'll find out is that you're really quite good at maths after
all!
Hippocampus has 6 clubs the 'Junior Hippo' & 'Baby Hippo' programs
right now. Soon there'll be more. Right now you can choose from the Art
Club, Music club, Journalism Club (a really amazing club which lets you
start your own newspaper), Nature Club, Cooking Club and the Adventure
Club (these guys go rock climbing, cycling, running and trekking).
If you're as excited by all of this as I am - join the club!
