What
we do
The
Junior Hippos Program attempts to broaden horizons using books as the
central medium supported by activities such as nature walks, dance,
plays, songs, rhymes and films.
For example, a story like the `Jungle Book', having been read out, could
be accompanied by discussions on the various animals that appear in
the story. The children could watch the film, learn the songs from the
film, go on a walk and identify familiar flora and fauna and landscape.
The ways in which to exploit a book are endless and only limited by
the imagination. Children will be encouraged to be spontaneous and use
their own imagination, coming up with their own activities, songs and
rhymes.
The
other aspect of the Junior Hippos program is to sensitize children to
the world around them and their place in it. Themes like Me, My Environment
and My Community are introduced to inculcate a strong self of self without
losing sight of the well-being of the community.
The Junior Hippos Program welcomes children of 4 to 7 years.
